COMING
UP: 25th June 2009: The traditional
annual IKLA tan-NANNA - traditional food,
drink and re-enactment. Contact us on info@santalucija.com
for more info.
The event starts at 8.00
pm. Free flowing wine will be served.
This is a traditional 5-course
meal using local ingredients. Folkloristic
dancing and music including Ghana Maltija
(Traditional Song) entertain the people
attending.
Every year a different re-enactment of a
scene from the past is performed.
Free transport is provided
to and from the Mgarr ferries. |

November 2008: Earlier
this year the Fundazzjoni Folkloristika
ta' Klula commissioned the well-known historian
Rev. Dr Joseph Bezzina to write the history
of Santa Lucija, in a concise form. This
work is now finally finished, and the history
of the village, spanning a few thousand
years is available in an 88-page booklet.
The booklet was launched during an event
organised at Pjazza Santa Lucija on 31st

September 2008: Members
of the Fundazzjoni Folkloristika Ta' Klula
attended the European Tourism Forum in Bordeaux,
France, during which they were awarded the
European Destination of Excellence award by
Gunther Verhaugen, Vice President of the European
Commission.

2008: The Fundazzjoni
Folkloristika Ta' Klula was awarded the European
Destination of Excellence award by Parliamentary
Secretary Dr Mario Demarco in a specific occassion
in this regard. The
Times provided coverage of such occassion,
a proof of the work being undertaken by the
Foundation towards promoting Santa Lucija's
historical and cultural heritage.

MAY 2008: Santa
Lucija has just been chosen as the best
locality to effectively promote its intangible
heritage amongst tourists by the
European Commission's European Destinations
of Excellence pilot project.
The award - the European Destinations of Excellence
Trophy - will be presented during the European
Tourism Forum in France.
Well done to the Fundazzjoni Folkloristika
ta' Klula for piloting this award, with the
assistance of the Kercem Local Council.
